This is a public notice to all residents of the country, that the only domestic submarine cable to Vava'u and Ha'apai Islands are currently offline. 

This submarine cable's unavailability restricted local operators from providing communication services for Vava'u and Ha'apai at their full capacity. Services backhaul has been switched to satellite with limited capacity. 

The causes of the the disruption to the cable is still unknown and its now under investigation, by the Ministry and the operator of Tonga's submarine cable, Tonga Cable Limited.
