NZ funds upgrade of Ha'apai Police Station

Police Station at Ha'apai will get an upgrade in facilitie

The Minister for Police, Fire Services and Prisons, Hon. Lisiate ‘Akolo signs a contract with Sione Tukuafu of the Willow Cove Industries Ltd ,to prepare reconstruction work for the upgrade of various facilities at the Ha'apai Police Station.

The project will be joint funded by development assistance from Australia and New Zealand, estimated at TOP 500,000.

The upgrade of the Ha'apai Police Station will include renovation of the Station's new roofs, prison cells and toilet facilities as Acting Police Commissioner Commander Taniela Faletau said.

Since 2008, The Tonga Police Development Programme established a partnership between the Governments of New Zealand, Australia and Tonga which focuses on resource and operational capacity building, infrastructure improvements such that of police stations renovations.
