Princess paid highest tribute to Chinese Host

11 September 2010 - Speaking at the opening of the Nanchang Friendship Forum on the 11th of September, HRH Princess Pilolevu paid the highest tribute to the Chinese host on this day representing 80 delegates from 9 countries the attended second part of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries Conference.

HRH made the remarks during her speech to mark the opening of the Forum at Nanchang , Jiangxi Province today 11 September 2010. Madame Li Xiaolin Vice President of CPAFFC paid tribute to HRH support and participation as Chairperson of the Tonga-China Friendship Association and also being proactive in fostering understanding and cooperation with the Chinese people.

HRH replied, "We count it a privilege to be in this vibrant country and city and to witness for ourselves a forum that demonstrates the breadth and depth of China's spirit of friendship with many other countries.  It is through this type of person to person dialogue that is at the essence of sustaining development for people to people friendship".

The theme of this Forum is SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT OF NON-GOVERNMENT FRIENDLY EXCHANGE". Representative from Friendship Associations from Americas and Oceania will make presentations during the day. Co President of the Tonga-China Friendship Association, Mr Saia Moehau will speak also in the afternoon session along with representatives from Vanuatu, New Zealand, Australia, Canada, USA and the Caribbean's.

In closing, HRH said, "friendship at a people to people level, whilst time consuming and at times requiring sacrifice, most critically requires - mutual trust; mutual respect; mutual understanding; an emotional bond; and a common purpose and vision for the friendship".

The Director of Tourism, Sakopo Lolohea said from Nanchang, the hospitality and attention to the Tonga delegation was exceptional and although Tonga is one of the youngest Friendship Association formed in 2009, HRH presence here is highly respected and appreciated.
