INVITATIONS: Showcase your collections at Tonga's first Museum & Archive Exhibitions

6 June 2013 The National Planning Committee for the International Archives Day 2013 in association with the Ministry of Information and Communications and UNESCO Tonga Office is cordially inviting members of the Public to join together in celebrating Tonga's historical journey and marking of the first national 'Archives Day' in Nuku'alofa on 10 June 2013.

This event will feature a rare opportunity for existing Museums, Archives and Libraries in Tonga to bring together their Collections to the Exhibitiions for everyone to enjoy, become aware of and appreciate the work and importance of taking care of historical artifacts, documents, publications, photos, objects, songs, genealogy among other items of historical and sentimental value to organisations, public and private sectors.

This is also a rare opportunity for the Government and private sectors to invite the people of Tonga to also showcase their private collections from archived materials, diaries, documents, photos or valued items from own family heirlooms and journals, in a joint effort to recognise the key importance of the day and recognition of Tonga's move towards assisting its own local museums, archives and libraries.
