23 September 2011 Madame Le Aimei, the Spouse of the Chinese Foreign Minister extended an invitation to all the Embassies and the Representative Offices of International Organizations in Beijing to an international charity fund raising for the Poor Mountain Villages of Xinzhai and Chongzi in Yunnan Province.

The Embassy of the Kingdom of Tonga in Beijing joined  together with other countries from Europe, Asia Pacific Region, Middle East, and North/South America in a charity fund raising on Saturday 17th September 2011 to help the poor mountain villages of  Yunnan Province.

The Tongan Embassy was able to raise 2000.00 RMB by selling Tongan fruit bunch (‘Otai drinks).  Three containers of ‘Otai drinks were prepared but  were running short  due to the large number of people queuing to the Tongan booth to enjoy the  Island drinks.

The Ambassador  H.E. Siamelie Latu said, it is not important how much you can raise but being responsive and participative in  the activities are of paramount importance in promoting cordial and friendly relations between the People's Republic of China and the Kingdom of Tonga.

The sales revenue was donated  to the Aid Projects of Xinzhai Village and Chongzi Village.

Issued by the: Tonga Embassy, Beijing, People's Republic of China, 17 September 2011. Authorized by Siamelie Latu.
