Ministry of Education honors Her Majesty Queen Mata'aho on Mother's Day

6 May 2011 To honour Her Majesty, Queen Halaevalu Mata'aho on Mother's Day, the Minister for Education, Hon. Dr. 'Ana Taufe'ulungaki led a special combined presentation of traditional kava and yams, 'fakatu'uta ha'unga' by the Ministry of Education, Women Affairs and Culture, and students from various high schools in Tonga to Her Majesty at the Royal Residence, Tufimahina.

This presentation which coincides with the upcoming celebration of the Mother's Day holiday in the weekend, serves to not only offer best wishes of the Day to the Queen Mother but in acknowledgement of Her  Majesty's attendance of the Education Day on 27 May which will start-off the weekend long Celebrations for Her Majesty's Birthday on the 29 May.

The Minister was accompanied by senior education officials from the Ministry, principals, teachers and students from both Government and Church high schools.

The Education Day 2011 programme will start from 10 am to 130 pm on 27 May at Teufaiva Stadium. This programme will include marching and traditional Tongan dancing by government and non government primary and secondary/tertiary schools.
