Tonga’s Royal Family

The House of Tupou – descended from three ancient Dynasties: Tu’i Tonga, Tu’i Ha’atakalaua and Tu’i Kanokupolu. The House of Tupou is a continuation of the Tu’i Kanokupolu Dynasty. The present monarch, King George V was sworn in as King on 11 September 2006, which also made him the 23rd Tu’i Kanokupolu. His Majesty King George Tupou V ‘s, full name is Siaosi Taufa’ahau Manumataongo Tuku’aho and was born 04 May, 1948.

Name: His Majesty King George Tupou I, (Reign 04 November, 1845–1893)  Born 04 December 1797 Kahoua, son of Tupouto'a, 17th Tu'i Konokupolo and Hoamfaleono.

Name: His Majesty King George Tupou II, (Reign 1893–1918)  Born: 18 June 1874 Neiafu only son of Prince Sia'osi Fatafehi Toutaitokotaha, 4th Tu'i Pelehake and Princess Elisiva F. Tauki'onetuku.

Name: Her Majesty Queen Salote Tupou III, (Reign 1918– 1965) Born: 13 March 1900 Royal Palace, eldest daughter of Siaosi Tupou II and Queen Lavinia Veiongo.

Name: His Majesty King Taufa'ahau Tupou IV,(Reign - 1965-2006)  Born: Royal Palace eldest son of Viliami Tungi Mailefihi and Salote Tupou III July 1918.

Name: His Majesty King George Tupou V, (Reign 2006 – March 2012), Born 4 May 1948. Born: Royal Palace eldest son of HM King Taufaʻahau Tupou IV and HM Queen Halaevalu Mata'aho.

Name: His Majesty King Tupou VI, Born 12 July 1959. Born: Royal Palace youngest son of HM King Taufaʻahau Tupou IV and HM Queen Halaevalu Mata'aho.
